The other issue is I'm always afraid to use Elixirs because you don't just get an unlimited supply every time I use an Elixir I'm draining my reserves, which feels bad. I just switched out my light armor for medium armor, which helps me lose less Ki when I block.
I'm starting to wonder whether I should be blocking more than dodging. My dodge timings are totally off, like I think I'm dodging at the right time, and often I do avoid damage, but when I whiff I end up instantly KO'ed because bosses can 2-shot me. There's something about the combat that simply isn't clicking with me. I literally couldn't beat this boss myself, had to summon help. There always seem to be a trick (or several) that trivializes the encounter.Ĭlick to shrink.I just beat the snake boss and hoo boy yeah this game is definitely significantly harder than Souls. Once you know that, the enemies can no longer really harm you unless they charge with like 2-3 at a time. Its just mostly a game of learning the enemy types and the combinations of aggressive / defensive and block / dodge. Some fights should be taken slow (Their attack have slow recovery/telegraphed) / some aggressive (Easy to break). Some things are designed to be dodged, some designed to be blocked. Having KI up is more important than armor values. Wear lighter gear, running can be even better than dodging on some bosses. I die a lot, but nothing like Sekiro where I was stuck on bosses for days.
The two bosses that gave me trouble so far was the snake dude (Two evenings) and burning bull (5 hours maybe). I'm am slowly getting a hang of the systems, but pretty much the first 4 areas I just played like any generic souls game. I am in area five now, never did any grinding or even really checking my gear other than picking higher attack weapons and maybe some set bonuses. You usually get a save spot right next to the bosses, plenty of good shortcuts, and even when dying you rarely loose everything because of how easy just running past everything is. Personally I find Niho 2 a lot more forgiving than Soul Games.
